My Story...
Name? Sabina Rivas
Nickname if any? LUNI, haha.
Tell us about your Family? Half of my family is Slovak and the other one is Costa Rican. My two sons were born in Canada of Italian descent so it’s a mix of cultures and nationalities.
Where are you from? I am originally from Slovakia, born and raised. Half Slovak, half Costa Rican.
Where do you live? Playas del Coco
Why did you move to CoCo and how long have you lived here? First time I moved here in 2003 and lived here for 7 years. Then again in 2018 and been here ever since. It’s where my family is located, and we all love it here!

Do you have a job or own a business? Tell us about it? I am the founder and owner of LUNI Costa Rica since 2017. We focus on designing exclusive souvenirs inspired by the Costa Rican National Symbol-the oxcart and the “Pura Vida Lifestyle”. Our products are mostly purchased by travel agents and 5* hotels as corporate gifts and are distributed in stores all over the country as well as the two international airports.

Do you have any animals? I do have a cat called Mia and a few goldfish.

Do you have any Passion Projects?
We hope to make a difference not just in people's everyday lives, but also by contributing and giving back - by supporting a cause that we truly believe in. Our ultimate goal is to promote and raise awareness about the importance of Costa Rican wildlife and the conservation of the rainforest.
We are more than happy to be donating part of our profits to Kids Saving The Rainforest- a non-profit organization in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica that works hard in order to save rescued wild animals.

What are your hobbies? I love everything art related- from painting, home décor to pottery and photography. I also love to travel, go for walks on the beach or hike to some waterfalls, do yoga and swim.
What are your favorite restaurants? Mostly traditional Italian or French cuisine.
What is your favorite watering hole & drink? Tropical cocktails!
What is your favorite beach and why?
Tamarindo, Santa Teresa, Manuel Antonio…there are too many beautiful beaches with a great vibe.
What is your favorite place to visit outside of CoCo? Tamarindo, Santa Teresa…or anywhere in the rainforest.
Tell us a fun story about your adventures in CoCo?
Way too many stories to tell!
Tell us something that most people don’t know about you? I am a “retired” lawyer.
